Dr. Shelley D. Shults, FNP, MSN, DDS, D.ABDSM
Dr. Shelley has been a respected comprehensive general & cosmetic dentist, engaging in oral-systemic health in your community since 2001, serving both adults and children. She has practiced in healthcare since 1975 in nursing, orthodontics, dentistry and dental sleep medicine.
Dr. Shelley practices with a comprehensive approach to dental rejuvenation & whole body health. Dental interests pursued include general & cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, limited orthodontics, prosthodontics and implant dentistry. She additionally has special interest in Dental Sleep Medicine, Sleep Related Breathing Disorders, TMJ Disorders and the close interrelationship of oral and systemic pathology. Dr. Shelley is a founding member of the American Academy of Oral Systemic Health and has additionally obtained board certification in dental sleep apnea from the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM). The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine has also granted her the honorable Diplomate Status. Dr. Shelley is a lifelong learner and is currently pursuing her certified family nurse practitioner licensure from South University.
She enjoys lecturing about Sleep Disorders and Oral Systemic Health. Dr. Shelley owns a compelling compassion for excellence in patient care, continuing education & patient advocacy, as well as is dedicated to seeking and improving interdisciplinary healthcare opportunities for her patients. She couples her medical & dental knowledge with identifying concerns, and assists you in obtaining appropriate referrals for primary care or specialists as needed. Her genuine concern for her patients is obvious.
Dr. Shelley is originally from Wichita, Kansas and relocated to the Dublin/Powell area in 1990. She studied Music Education with emphasis on piano & trumpet performance at Friends University. She followed this career as an orthodontic assistant for 5 years and then obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The Wichita State University, Magna Cum Laude in 1982. Her nursing career experience includes neonatal nursing, community health nursing, family practice & internal medicine/infectious disease, emergency nursing and out-patient surgery as well as advanced education towards her MSN. Dr. Shelley then obtained her Doctorate of Dental Surgery form The Ohio State University in 2001, where she was honored with many achievement awards and developed the initial database for implant failure mode causations.
Dr. Shelley is married to Kip for 39 years, and they have a daughter “Krista” and a grandson “Braden”. Dr. Shelley is passionate when it comes to humanitarian service. She previously served several years as a team leader and board member for Health Professionals Serving Humanity in the Bay Islands of Honduras. Having a heart for missions, she volunteers at the Grace Medical Clinics and provides free medical care for the underserved populations in Columbus, Ohio on the weekends. In her spare time she enjoys playing piano & trumpet, cooking, photography, reading, travel and backyard chickens.
